Drs Darryl and David and the team at Today’s Dentistry
Dr Darryl Marsh writes…
In this blog entry I continue my series of articles on caring for your child’s dental health.
Your child’s body is growing and changing… and their mouth and teeth are no exception.
Their baby (deciduous) teeth get loose, new teeth come through, and the jaws are constantly growing. Much of the damage to our adult teeth occurs in our childhood years.
Dr David Kerr replies: Salt water mouthwash rinses are an excellent short term treatment when you have wounds in the mouth, for instance, when you’ve had teeth removed. The reason they are so good is that the salt is not only a natural disinfectant, but it also removes any swelling from the tissues.
Stephanie from Chermside West, asked: “Are there any long term side effects of rinsing the mouth with salt water? Does it weaken the tooth, or interfere with saliva secretion, or is it irreversibly abrasive to the taste buds? How does a salt water rinse compare with dental mouthwashes?”
Sometimes it is difficult for patients to fully understand the condition of their teeth – using an intraoral camera is a state of the art dental technical device that really helps you see for yourself exactly what is happening in your mouth – Live on TV during your treatment!
We can’t imagine life without them now! Find out more about the many advantages of the intra oral cameras we use and how a picture really is worth a thousand words.
We’ve had plenty going on lately at Today’s Dentistry…
Dental assistant Sarah is heading overseas in July for a whole month of adventure. Dubai, Spain, Italy and Croatia. She will be going to the ‘Running of the Bulls’ in Spain though she isn’t going to actually run with them. She is currently working on her Spanish, just in case she needs to help a good-looking Spaniard in distress!
Brooke is joining our team full time again from early July. She has been with us on Wednesdays for the last year. She also worked for us years ago before going on a working holiday in England. It will be lovely to see her smiling face more regularly again. We also have had Alischa join our team – she has travelled Australia extensively but is now enjoying working in Brisbane and putting down some roots and building her family home with husband Heath.
Darryl is looking forward to a week off in the upcoming School Holidays to enjoy some treasured family time.
